A new study based on data from the SAGA Cohort indicates that women with ADHD experience more intense and severe symptoms of menopause than women without ADHD. In addition, the results suggest that women with ADHD may experience symptoms of the menopausal transition earlier in life compared to women without ADHD.

A new cohort study, published in European Psychiatry, indicates that women with ADHD not only have a higher prevalence of severe perimenopausal symptoms, but also that theses symptoms present at an earlier age than among women without ADHD. This indicates an earlier onset age of perimenopause in ADHD.

The study is a part of the doctoral thesis of PhD student Unnur J. Smari.
